Favorites from the weekend

Good morning! I hope your Monday is going well! I snapped this photo on my way out the door this morning...three Hibiscus blooms all at once.

What a treat! If only I was home today to enjoy them. Oh well, glad they are doing well, despite whatever little critter is feasting on their pretty leaves. Any suggestions on what to do to get rid of these guys?

The Knight and I had a sweet (but short) trip to McMinnville to attend a wedding of a long-time family friend. Their wedding was at the George Dickel Distillery, and everything was beautiful...the entire thing was outside and, of course, right before the ceremony, the sky opened up and dumped buckets. Thankfully, they rented a humongous tent, so we rushed under and sat around the tables which were set up for the reception. It was a nice feeling...sitting around the table with the ones you love while you look on to see two other people publicly declaring their love. I think more weddings should use table seating - it is gives even a large wedding an intimate feeling.

All in all, the wedding was gorgeous. Imagine being surrounded by lush greenery and rustic buildings, then looking up and seeing not one, not two, but four huge crystal chandeliers hanging inside a tent decorated with white linens, hundreds of sunflowers and roses, and handmade glass-blown vases. Just lovely.

The bride's family hired a fantastic band, and despite the rain, the mud, and the mess, the guests kicked off their shoes and danced till the wee hours of the morning. Even the Knight asked me to dance once...that's a big deal!

Sunday, the Knight and I took turns driving home. I snapped this picture of him and Henry dozing. Can we say precious?

Speaking of Henry, he and Miss Betty are doing much better. She actually played with him...wagging tail included. She is still very protective of certain parts of the house, and acting out, but it is getting better. Last week, our cleaning guy came over and stripping our bed to put fresh sheets on. Typically, when he comes over, he lets Betty out of our bathroom (that's where we keep her during the day), and she roams the house until he's done.

Anywhoodles, he took our sheets to the washer, and when he returned, she had left a nice little puddle of pee right in the middle of our bare mattress! BAD DOG! Of course he cleaned it up and we "aired" it out as best as we could. So gross!

As he cleaned the rest of the house, he discovered that she had pooped on our guest bedroom rug and our office rug! All this in a matter of 2 hours! Mind you, she has not had an accident in our house in ages. She was just going around the house leaving proof her domain. Needless to say, we are keeping a close eye on her, and severly restricting her "reign" in the house until she can demonstrate that she is over this territorial rant.

All in all, things have been slowly getting back to normal 'round here. We are starting to figure out Henry's routine, and he is becoming more and more devoted and playful each day. He has learned his new name, comes when called (most of the time), and does quite well on a leash.

Can't wait to get home and take the pups on a run!
