Christmas Decorations in the Dining Room

Good Morning! Have you started (or finished) decorating? For me, Christmas decorating is always a work in progress. I haul all the decor I already have, hunt in closets to find after Christmas sale items from the previous year that were not carefully stowed in the attic, and inevitably add even more new decor. To some, decorating for Christmas may seem like a trivial, unimportant, time-wasting task, but for me, it is an exercise that brings joy to my and the Knight, as well as any guests.

Also, seeing our home decked out reminds me just how blessed we are...we have a stable roof over our heads, money to pay for the essentials and non-essentials, and friends and family who love us enough to choose to use some of their precious holiday time celebrating at our home.

A few years ago, my sweet mom bought me 12 turquoise holiday place mats, 12 matching napkins, and 12 silver beaded napkin rings from Kohl's (isn't that every mom's favorite store?). At that point in my life, I was living in a speck of an apartment, but we knew that one day I would get to use them! The linens coordinate perfectly with my china, Pearl Platinum by Lenox, and boasts a modern, cheery holiday theme that is right up my alley.

This year, I decided that it was time to break out the aqua, and do a silver and turquoise themed Christmas. For fun, I took a few pictures of our dining room. I will be posting more pictures from other areas of the house, but this is by far my favorite room at Christmas.

It's hard to tell, but the Christmas tree is predominantly aqua and silver too! I used silver and aqua polka dotted ribbon from Michael's to wrap the tree, and used some aqua, beige, and green fabric from Hobby Lobby as the skirt.

Let me know what you think. Any suggestions for next year? Also, if you have your decor up, leave a link in the comments. We're all nosey posies around here and would love to see what you are up to!

Thanks, everyone! There are so many amazing decorated homes out there...I really appreciate the compliments.

Amanda, I got the jars last year at our local Pottery Barn outlet. I have seen similar ones at Hobby Lobby!

LOVE IT! You can leave most of this stuff up through the winter! I may use some of these ideas for my winter table (post-Christmas). Where did you get the awesome canisters?
